Hi Maat,
You have to make sure your AWS security group allows access to port 8000
port 8000 (80 for XS engine followed by your instance 00)

After your logged in to AWS -> Select Console -> slick on security group link at the left had side (under Network & security).
Select your HANA instance for which you want to configure security settings
Now click Inbound TAB and key in 8000 in the port range
and click add rule.
After that
go to browser and type http://imdbhdb:8000 (public Ip of your AWS HANA instance)
now you should be able to see XS Engine screen.
Actually I hope you tried the .xsjs example demonstrated by Thomas, I had problem executing his code. Later I used my own version it it was working
