A minor correction to what Ravi Shankar replied,
Technically you should be able to load to any type of Table Row or Column, but as mentioned it is advisable to store the data in the column store.
Secondly, the data actually is written to the DELTA memory and on DELTA MERGE is moved to the main memory.
