r3.2xlarge has worked best for me recently, but pricing is always subject to change. i started looking closer at EBS as well as i'm not using much of the space that is preallocated through snapshots and volumes, so i wouldn't recommend keeping too many backup copies as well.
you will also have to keep renewing your HANA license as it may expire after 90 days.
