This is a false conception on how SLT works.
In many real-life big scale implementations SLT has shown no slow-down of business transactions. Although overall system load increased (of course it has to increase, as more work is being done. But that's the same and even worse for classic ETL scenarios), this doesn't saturate the DB server of the source system.
