thanks for your clarification about EIM. I can see now that "smart data integration" part of SAP HANA EIM is aiming to cover use cases like replication as with EIM it is possible to replicate data (batch and real time) into HANA.
If I understand whole concept of EIM right, it is possible to build custom adapters (using HANA Data Provisioning Adapter SDK) for remote source systems. Tables in such source systems are accessible by HANA as virtual tables which means the tables behave as they would be native HANA ones.
Would be interesting to see more information from someone who has done some prototypes in here.
