I agree, this looks like a bug but I have exactly zero experience with that script.
So best would be to open a support incident for this.
The fact that knowledge on the product is to be found in many different places is unfortunately true and follows one of the great SAP traditions (it's the same with all vendors to some degree).
As I mentioned before we are aware of the lack of concise and concentrated information about SAP HANA especially for performance related topics and I know that development is working hard to improve this.
IMO it cannot be overestimated how important this is for the product in order to get a solid standing at the customers and users.
Some of the efforts can already be seen. There are free online courses available from openSAP and openHPI that cover HANA and related technology on a reasonable level.
SAP Academy updates course material and certifications in sync with the 6 months release cycle of SAP HANA - faster than for any other product in SAP history.
I am not the one to say "all is good" here, but just wanted to point out: this has not been overlooked and quite some effort runs into this.
